Paycare Direct Mailshot

Well this is truly an image I will remember. It was captured on an eos 1ds mark 2 in my studio. The first model commissioned was not liked by the UK client so I (yes moi) had to take the daunting task of stepping in front of the camera as well as shooting the image. The things that some people do for money eh? The final image is a montage of about six different photographs, comped in photoshop and used in a direct mail campaign in the UK. The concept was to show that Paycare (a leading private health insurance company in the UK) will pay for all of your medical ailments whatever they maybe. Hence the money being strategically placed around my rather well rounded body. I spent a morning scanning sterling, removing serial numbers, and printing pound notes - I almost felt rich for a moment! The final hi res image was sent via ftp, where it was dropped into the final artwork by Positive Advertising and is at this very moment dropping through letter boxes all over the U.K. What a sight with your kellogs in the morning, as one executive at paycare duly noted - it looks like a corpse with no hair - there goes my dreams of a vogue cover and multi million pound modelling career!

Live Music Jam, Ira Losco Rocks!

I know this blog is beginning to appear as a homage to Ira Losco and Band but I can assure you that I will be uploading some different subjects in the near future, and that I do have a day job! This is just one more of the 200 or so images taken at the Vodafone Music Jam on Saturday 17th March 2007. St Patricks day passed without a drop of Guinness passing my lips, although I must admit a few glasses of wine and cold beer made up for this! It never ceases to amaze me what hard work Ira Losco and band and the whole crew put into these events. Obviously this hard work is never seen by messrs joe public but I can assure you the Ira Losco family works there cotton socks off to ensure they deliver the first class events you have all come to expect.

Ira Losco & Band Rock Vodafone Music Jam

The very first Vodafone Music jam was a great success to say the least. I was there as Ira Losco’s official photographer and what a night it was. Ira & Band, management and crew all spent endless hours before the gig rehearsing and ensuring that all would go well on the night. What can i say, great performance, excellent music, fantastic location and a packed crowd of over 2000 people at The Hilton, Malta. Almost 200 hundred hi resolution photos were taken on the night and after a long week of converting in photoshop cs 2 I can honestly say it was well worth it! Thanks to all concerned as usual!

Microtek Medical USA Annual Report

Just one of the many images taken this week at Microtek Medical in Mosta Technopark. I was commissioned by a U.K. public relations company to take photos to be used in the American companies Annual Report. I spent the day taking photos in clean rooms, warehousing, extrusion and textile departments. All hi-res images were burnt to DVD and custom boxed before being sent off to the states.

Ira Losco Tenth Tent, Nadur, Gozo

One of the images taken at the recent Ira Losco gig in Nadur, Gozo on February 10th 2007. It was a great night as usual, with the after party being held in our hotel room until the early hours of the morning. Apparently the rest of the crew decided that we had the best room, so there was no sleep to be had! made even worse by the fact that myself and Alex had a big family meal the next day. Mutterings of anti-social so and so’s and dirty stop outs were the order of the day.

Death defying Stunt in Gozo

It was at Club XS in Gozo with ira Losco and Band where I performed what I would call my first special prank of 2007. For those that know me I have quite a reputation for very funny accidents, and Gozo was to be xtra special. We arrived at the club in the afternoon where the owner informed me that they had reserved on of the dancers cages for me to shoot from (damn, and I had forgotten to pack my pink spandex leotard). Well the gig started and I got some great shots from my elevated platform above the packed crowd. After the first song I decided to get closer to the stage and this is when the fun started. As I put my foot on the first rung of the ladder, I realised something was wrong, something was very wrong! Someone must have spilt a drink on the platform, and the next thing I knew I was airborne. One hundred kilos of pure me horizontal above the dancefloor in Gozo. Seconds later I came crashing down with a huge thud. My first thoughts were shit I must have broken my camera, quickly followed by.... or my back and then most importantly... I hope no one saw that! Which of course was an utter dream on my part, a good portion of the crowd were staring at me in amazement, which is when the cartoon syndrome kicked in - quick as a flash, I jumped to my feet muttering didnt hurt, didnt hurt, and hurriedly scampering off to the front of the stage nursing a damaged ego! So look at the photo above and just imagine the physical and mental pain I was going through when I took it!

Ira Losco & Band Club XS, Gozo

Ira Losco and band performed to a sell out crowd at Club XS in Gozo on Saturday 20th January 2007. I was there once again as ira Loscos official photographer and had the pleasure of spending the weekend with ira and band at their hotel, all I can say is that it was a blast, I have’nt had so much fun in ages. Iam just about getting my hearing back to normal. As usual great performance, great crowd and one heck of a buzz! Look out for my next post where I will reveal my dangerous stunt attempted on the night.

Ira Losco Mosaic

This is an image I have been wanting to make for a long time, Iam not too sure if it will look good at this small resolution as its meant to be viewed at A2 or larger. Basically its a portrait of Ira Losco but with a twist. The portrait is made up of over 1000 photos of Iras performances in 2006 along with some of the acts that she performed with in Germany, such as: Jimmy Somerville, Mel C, Sir Elton John, Ronan Keeting and Katie Melua. There are also a couple of Iras sponsors thrown in for good measure: Coca Cola, Revlon, McDonalds and Global Capital. You might even be able to spot yourself if you attended one of Iras concerts, although I doubt it at this small resolution. Try clicking on the image for a larger view.

Ken McCluskey of the Commitments

Ken McCluskey otherwise known as Derek "Meatman" Scully from the film The Commitments at the bands recent performance at Notte Magica in Valletta, Malta on 6th January 2007. I had the pleasure of photographing the Commitments as I was attending the event as Ira Losco’s official photographer. Hey, its a hard job, but someones gotta do it!

The magic of Ira Losco and band

Another on of the images taken at the recent Notte Magica event in Valletta, Malta on 6th January 2007. I would like to thank Ira Losco, the band, management and everyone involved for making it such a great night. I think this image just about sums it all up.

Ira Losco Notte Magica

Ira Losco and band performing their magic to a literally spellbound audience at Notte Magica in Valletta, Malta’s capital on 6th January 2007. It was a great night to say the least, I decided to change tack with my style of images for this gig given the large presence of photographers who all seemed to be going for the usual head and shoulders shots, still I cant blame them - what great subject matter!!

Ira Losco Bay Music Awards Again

Here is another photo of Ira Losco performing live the Bay Music Awards 2006. Some of you may have seen it posted around the web and in the Maltese newspapers but not the version shown here. I must say Iam more than a little miffed that some people who should know better (publishers please take note) are choosing to publish my images without adding the photographers credit. Come on guys be fair!
